How to make a spot color plate in Pagemaker

Spot-color platemaking is the production of only one type of color plate at the time of plate making, without the need for multi-color overprinting, the use of spot color inks for printing, or printing of special colors by ink transfer. Spot colors are mostly on-site density, and there are fewer meshes.
The Pagemaker software spot color plate focuses on the submenu “Define Colors” under the palette and menu “Ingredients”. Using the submenu "Set Color" you will see that Pagemaker6.0C divides colors into primary colors and spot colors; likewise, the 5.0CS version has sub-mixes and monochromes, and the 6.5C versions correspond to colors and print colors.
If the print has no more than four colors, the default color in the four basic colors can be used instead of the spot color. Conversely, if there are more than four colors, all the spot density spot colors and halftone dot colors that were pre-made in Photoshop are placed in the Pagemaker file. The spot density spot color is because of the black bitmap mode and can be in Photoshop. Change color.
Method: Select one of the primary colors (red, green, and blue) from the palette, or define a primary color in the submenu's "Define Colors" pop-up dialog box. Of course, if the spot color is text or a simple line, color block, etc. that Pagemaker can make, then there is no need to go through Photoshop. The mesh spot color produced by Photoshop ensures that the size of the Pagemaker file and the location of the text and graphics remain the same. By using the “renaming storage”, the spot color and the four basic colors are divided into two Pagemaker files to avoid misplacing the graphic and text output. Film overprinting is not allowed.
The next step is to print in Pagemaker, send the RIP, and output the film. Click on the separations in Pagemaker's print dialog and then process them separately according to the spot color conditions.
1  Printing with color no more than four colors Since each color version is only available in yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, after setting all the options in the print dialog box, printing with primary colors and spot colors can be output. Each color separation film.
2  Printing with more than four colors. a  The spot color version is a photo density field file created by Photoshop or a graphic created with Pagemaker. Only primary colors can be used for printing. Because the use of spot color printing will only output the four basic color versions of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black, but it cannot output spot colors defined as primary colors. With the primary color version, each color version can output film.
b. Spot Color Edition is a halftone file created by Photoshop. Because in the Pagemaker can not complete the color replacement, direct output, the spot color will only appear in the four basic color version of yellow, magenta, cyan, black, can not achieve the purpose of spot color plate. It is possible to output the two files that are stored in Pagemaker as yellow, magenta, cyan, and black base color versions and spot color versions.
