Recently, during the newspaper delivery process, papers often get stuck at the entrance of the keel, causing the conveyor system to stop. In less severe cases, the system can be restarted manually, but in more serious situations, the newspapers pile up and block at the turning point of the conveying device. This requires manual intervention to remove the paper, which usually takes around 30 minutes, resulting in significant waste of printed materials and operational delays.

2. Fault Analysis and Resolution

After careful investigation, it was discovered that occasionally a newspaper would curl during delivery, triggering the jam switch and causing the keel to alarm. Since the reported newspapers were neatly arranged, issues related to misalignment or improper stacking were ruled out. However, the author noticed that when thousands of newspapers passed through the keel entrance, some shifted in position. These shifted papers were hit by the front collection plate, leading to curling or folding, which caused the malfunction.

The root cause was identified as an issue with the belt under the keel entrance. Although the sensors did not detect any abnormalities, the belt showed signs of aging—approximately 25px wide and 1250px long. This aged belt lacked sufficient tension, causing the conveyor to momentarily stop and shift the newspaper's position. Replacing the worn belt resolved the issue completely.

The main computer of the newly introduced Beiren 75 rotary printing press has failed, preventing the machine from starting. As a result, the two folding heads controlled by the system are also unable to function properly.

The equipment engineer first discovered that the power supply had burned out. After replacing the power supply, the CPU fan still did not turn, so the fan was replaced next. However, the system still did not operate normally. Upon powering on, the hard drive could not be detected, indicating a motherboard failure. The engineer then replaced the entire computer system. After a night of repairs, the machine eventually returned to normal operation.

These incidents led to significant financial losses. To prevent similar problems in the future, it is crucial to prioritize regular equipment maintenance and ensure timely replacement of faulty components. Additionally, maintaining spare parts inventory will help reduce downtime and minimize economic impact.
