Web printing and post-processing solutions

In order to better serve the market, large-scale printing factories should have a variety of production capabilities, so that they can respond flexibly to the different needs of customers and maintain their competitive position. Therefore, today's rotary printing technology should be able to process a wider range of products (including magazines, catalogs, advertising prints/inserts, name directories, books, etc.), as well as different formats and pages (from four to 96 pages and More pages) products.

Suppliers who provide post-press equipment for the European rotary printing market should have the ability to meet a variety of highly flexible and personalized solutions to meet different (or special) production types and page configuration requirements. In addition should provide:

Highly automated level

Efficient production and high-speed solutions

Equipment and service/personnel reliability

Efficiency - low production costs and low waste (drop to 0)

Civiemme S.pA. of Italy is an industry-leading company that specializes in providing complete and custom-made post-press equipment solutions for rotary printing equipment. Civemme has been designing and manufacturing stackers since 1975. At the same time, Civiemme also aims to meet the special needs of different markets, mainly for the European and North American markets, for them to customize personalized solutions. During these years, Civiemme has introduced various types of products to meet the needs of rotary printers.

The production speed of rotary presses is generally more than 40,000 cph. Since 2001, Civiemme has installed 40 post-press equipment systems on the European market to handle the output of 64-page rotary presses, and the company has also sold the same amount. The post-press system is used to process the 48-page press job output.

Here are some examples of printing vendors:

European Market Case Study

Pozzoni, Italy

Pozzoni Group is a leading domestic printing company in Italy. Recently, it has added three new Roland Lithoman IV 64-page presses to expand its web production capacity by 60%. At the same time, Civiemme’s latest solutions are also used. Bookpost disposition. The company's goal is to further improve processing capabilities and grow into the leading printing company in Europe.

These imported rotary presses are mainly used to print catalogs, magazines, and advertising products in different formats and pages. The Lithoman press will be installed between mid-2004 and mid-2005.

Civiemme's equipment will simultaneously handle the product stacking and signature classification of each of the four delivery units (two magazines, one tabloid, and one DP) for each press. Above it is a transmission system with steering gates and job stream conversion structure to change the direction through which the printed paper can be transferred to Civiemme's postpress facility.

Both Lithoman presses will also have the same post-press equipment solution installed. Many processed products, such as leaflets and advertising products, will be trimmed by the RT 550 rotary cutter for three to four sides. The cut product is then stacked by the CS 350 Compensating Count Stacker. The piling machine is equipped with a special slot compensation device to ensure continuous and smooth transfer of the job flow to the above positioning area, where the prints are piled up. On the CS 350 delivery system, the electronic module unit (BU350) can very loosely pile up the paper stack, and then manual or automatic palletizing can be done so that the quality of the printed product can be maintained perfectly, and tapes can also be avoided.

Book-bundling uses a different stacking solution consisting of two ST 420/120 baled stacking devices to form a 1200 mm thick book bundle. This stacker is designed for fast web printing equipment and can quickly produce book bundles in seconds. In Pozzoni, the stacker is also equipped with a fully automatic double baling system: when the first baling unit breaks down, it is automatically started as a back-up second baling unit, guaranteeing a good packaging process and production The continuity of the process.

The bundles from the two ST 420/120 bale stackers and the book stacks from the CS 350 offset stacker will be sent together to a single stacking unit: PL-Robot 250 . This stacking robot is installed with other equipment for the production of fully automated stacking processes, including tool conversion and clamping for books and bundles. The PL-Robot 250 has a speed of stacking 144 bundles of books per hour and 800 bags per hour.

The third Lithoman press will also install a post-press equipment system specifically for bale production. In this case, Civiemme will provide a special robot designed specifically for palletizing stacking of ST 420/120 stacks.

The Pozzoni Group is very fortunate to have chosen this post-press equipment system for their new 64-page press. Its technology and special structure allow high-volume production processing, providing great flexibility and efficient production. Its compact structure also saves a lot of space for their plant.

Kraft-Schlels, Germany

Kraft-Schlels, a German printing company, has introduced a Manroland Lithoman IV 48-page web press since March 2003. Kraft-Schlels cooperated with Austria's famous printing house Strohal Rotationsdruck to carry out joint production. They have several web offset printing machines and can complete production from 16 pages to 128 pages, and provide users with commercial prints and magazines. They focus on investment in advanced rotary printing technology, aiming to provide users with European-leading quality products and fast distribution services. So they also followed the same principle for the postpress equipment system they chose for their new Lithoman press.

Civiemme's fully automatic post-printing system can handle the output of one or two folding feeders with a high degree of flexibility. It can keep up with the speed of the press and maintain perfect print quality. The two workflows transmitted from the twofold paper-feeding devices will be stacked on the rotary cutter for three-sided or four-sided cutting. This precise cutting system allows the cutting of two job streams simultaneously or separately. The conveyor located on the top of the cutter transports the already cut jobs to two CS 350 H offset counter stackers with a high feed unit. The Civiemme Compensated Palletizer is capable of high-speed stack production. Speed up to 100,000 cph, and the processing method is also very smooth. The book stack is then released or strapped by a separate two-station stacking device PL-Robot 100 DUAL. The robot is capable of stacking pallets from one or two compensating stackers. It is connected to a gripper and can be used to extract one or two stacks according to different product formats. The stacking speed can exceed 800 packs per hour.

The entire postpress process is automated. The operator only needs to pre-adjust the stacking equipment according to the size of the job to be processed, and pre-set the stacking data and job arrangement.

Spanish company Einsa

Spain's Einsa Ediciones Informatizadas SA, which produces phone books, is also a leading European printing company.

Einsa and Civiemme have been closely cooperating since the late 1980s and have been actively developing highly flexible and highly automated stacking equipment and stacking equipment.

Einsa Alcobendas' three 96-page KBA C618 presses have been equipped with Civiemme's bale stacker and stacker systems since 1999. Like its KBA press, the later Heidelberg Sunday M4000/64-page press (installed in 2003) also installed a similar post-press equipment system with two ST 420/120 bale stacks. Paper machine - for high-speed production of 1200 mm thick signature bundles. In addition, there is a PL 86 DUAL bale stacker that can serve two stackers simultaneously.

Einsa is still investing in high-volume web presses. It later introduced a KBA C818 64-page press, which was installed in July 2004 and can produce 128 pages. It is equipped with a Civiemme postpress equipment system that is similar to the output processing of the M4000 press. This system can handle a wide range of products - A5, A4, A3, Double Parallel format, is a highly automated solution to provide users with effective workflow and efficient production.
