Application of pearlescent in flexographic printing

With technological innovations, flexo-printed products are printed from carton boxes and gradually developed into fine-patterned product packaging. Pearlescent color is a wonderful part of the printing effect and is often favored by customers. Now through the continuous efforts of the technical staff of Merck and the active cooperation of printing manufacturers, pearlescent pigments of different particle sizes can be printed on different materials. Domestic manufacturers include: Dalian Schmidt Ink Company and Shaanxi New Century Ink Company.

The water-based ink should achieve good printing effect in flexographic printing, and can be carried out according to the following technical parameters: whether it is printing on coated paper or film, if the printing speed is 50-100m/min, the printing viscosity of pearlescent ink should be Controlled between 40 and 60 seconds (measured using a 4mm Fokker cup), the corresponding pearlescent pigment content in the ink should be 15% to 25% of the ink. If the viscosity of the ink needs to be adjusted during printing, a mixture of water and isopropanol (2:1 weight ratio) can be used.

We recommend the use of laser engraved ceramic anilox roller, and the mesh wall hole ratio is not less than 4:1. In the past, due to the limitation of the process, the pearlescent pigment particle size in the ink is usually only between 5 and 25 μm. Now you can Choose pearlescent pigments of different particle sizes to achieve your favorite pearlescent effect.
