Some experiences of gouache painting in the process of reproduction

The manuscript in the plate making process is mainly divided into two types: reflection and transmission. The reflection draft is mainly based on photos and drawings. Drawings can be divided into Chinese paintings (ink painting), gouache paintings, watercolor paintings, oil paintings, and prints, and most of the paintings used to make children's comic books are painted with leech. Its colorful, rich layers, lighter tones and midtones occupy a larger proportion in the picture, which has a certain degree of difficulty in the process of copying, because the level is not easy to grasp, the color reproduction is shallow, and studies need to carry out the necessary art in reproduction. In order to ensure the reproduction of the color of the gouache original.

Recently, we have copied a few comic books based on gouache, all of which reflect children's works. In the process of gouache painting, we also encountered some technical problems. We sum up experience and have the following experience:

1. The original gouache painting is not suitable for scanning images with a flatbed scanner. At the beginning, we scanned the gouache originals on a flatbed scanner and entered them into the desktop system. The results showed that the colors on the computer screen were dark and dark, and the outlines were not true. This brings a lot of trouble to the processing of images in the computer. Although the color correction is performed in the computer, the color of the proofs is still not ideal, there is a color deviation, the image is not true and so on.

2. The gouache manuscript is best scanned with an electric extension and then processed in the computer. Because the extension has a high-precision image processing function, it can emphasize the lines and layers, and in the blank space of the image, it can also use the high-light highlighting function to remove the tiny dots in the blank space, which can save the operator in the computer. The processing time of the blank space in the image improves the work efficiency. In addition, fixed-level curves can be used to enlarge image contrast in electric extensions, protect light colors, and perform color corrections. Therefore, the image after scanning by the electric extension shows high general accuracy, rich layers, clear lines, and accurate colors, and requires too much sample.

3. When gouache originals are scanned using electric extensions, special care must be taken to protect the light shades. Do not try to make the light color in the image lose too much when scanning, generally should use high-light thickening curve to scan. Fixed-level curves of No. 4 or No. 5 can be used on German HELL extensions, because No. 4 and No. 5 curves can increase 5% -10% of the dots in the high-light area of the image, actually playing a small amount of light colors on the image. The additive effect makes the pastel painting more abundant in the light tone color range of 10%-20%.

However, it should also be noted that after the image is scanned using the high-light thickening curve, although the basic color amounts of the light and intermediate tone colors in the picture are increased, the inverse color amount is also increased by a certain amount. With the increase of the reverse color amount, the lighter tone becomes darker and dirty. Therefore, while using the thickening curve, it is also necessary to reduce the amount of the opposite color amount, especially to reduce the blue version of the human skin color. The amount of color to ensure the vivid feel of the character's skin color. For the correction of other light-colored blocks, the colors should be restored as true as possible, and the colors should be bright and vivid, which fully reflects the characteristics of the gouache.
