Reasonable selection of the lining material and correct determination of the thickness and compression of the lining are the key to the clear transfer of the image. In the printing process, the use of the lining can make up for the comprehensive error in the printing machine and printing materials, greatly reduce the rigid printing pressure between the rollers, prolong the life of the printing press, and the pressure and impact force generated during the printing process is very large. And the magnitude and direction of the pressure are constantly changing. By utilizing the elastic compression deformation characteristics of the lining, the impact degree of the rigid surface can be effectively reduced and the resulting vibration can be absorbed; in addition, during the printing process, the paper feeding operation often occurs. The foreign matter caused by improper entry enters the printing drum zone. Due to the protective effect of the elastic blanket, the printing plate can be prevented from being damaged as much as possible, which plays a role of safety protection.

The lining usually consists of a blanket and a pad. According to different elastic modulus and compressive deformation, the lining can be divided into soft lining, neutral lining and rigid lining. The soft lining surface is elastic, generally refers to the blanket pad and the cloth-like material, and the deformation amount is large, and the ink bar is not easy to be printed during printing, but the dot is not clear. The compression of the soft pad is generally 0.15 to 0.25 mm, which is less used by printing companies. Neutral lining is mainly made of cardboard and thin blankets. It has strong printability and is the most widely used type of lining. Its surface elasticity is medium, the printed dots are good, and the compression is generally 0.05. ~0.15mm. Hard lining generally refers to kraft paper, cardboard, polyester sheet and the like. The surface elasticity is poor, the printed dots are particularly clear, and the precision of the printing machine and the manufacturing quality of each part are strict. The compression amount is generally 0.04~0.08. Mm.

At present, the height difference between the printing blanket cylinder and the bolster surface is two factions: one is shallow, the height difference is 1.57 to 2.29 mm; the other is deep, and the height difference is 3.25 to 4.15 mm. Both systems do not advocate the use of soft liners, especially shallow systems have traditionally advocated the use of rigid liners, even without liners, and blanket cylinders and plate cylinders are printed with goossauge. However, the author believes that from the perspective of printing machine precision, the amount of compression of the liner is better, because the soft lining has the advantage of making up the friction printing layout caused by the manufacturing and installation errors of the printing press; It is required that the smaller the amount of compression of the lining is, the better the deformation of the hard lining is, and the deformation of the embossing is small.
