Interpretation of the "Qianlong Yujiu" wine box combination printing case
Wine culture is a vital component of Chinese national heritage, and wine packaging plays a crucial role in conveying product information and enhancing brand identity. With the continuous development of new materials and advanced technologies, the industry constantly strives to integrate various printing techniques to create more visually striking packaging designs.
Interior Design
The design of this wine box draws inspiration from royal treasures, with yellow as the dominant color—symbolizing imperial authority, as ancient emperors wore yellow robes. The box features a dark line dragon pattern, echoing the elegance of traditional Chinese art. The brand name is inspired by the Palace Museum’s plaque, incorporating a classic dark gold frame paired with a Beijing cloisonne blue plaque. The dark gold dragon motif on the edge of the plaque is intricately crafted, creating a refined courtly atmosphere when set against the yellow background.
Combined Printing Application
A standout feature of this wine box is its innovative use of combined printing techniques, integrating offset printing, screen printing, and embossing to achieve a unique visual impact and creative expression. Here are the key steps in the process:
- To highlight the main color—yellow, especially to replicate the soft texture of an emperor's robe, the box uses silver card paper with a basis weight of 250g/m² as the base material.
- Screen printing is used to apply a 70% medium yellow and 30% white spot color, giving the surface a rich yet subtle tone.
- A mixture of 70% pan-gold pearl powder and 30% West German flash gold is prepared into varnish. This is then applied over the spot color yellow using the same screen, resulting in a luxurious satin-like finish with a sparkling effect.
- White areas, such as the samurai trademark and barcode background, are printed using screen printing to ensure clarity and contrast.
- Four-color offset printing is employed for elements like the samurai logo, dark gold frame, and black captions on the box’s surface.
- Red spot color is applied via screen printing for bold text and the “Emperor’s Treasure†seal at the top of the box.
- Blue spot color is used for the Beijing Jingtai blue card bottom, adding a vibrant touch to the design.
- A layer of polyester film is added for protection and enhanced durability.
- UV refraction effects are printed on the bottom of the Jingtai blue and dark gold plaques using screen printing, creating a dynamic visual effect.
- Key elements such as the samurai logo and the “Emperor’s Treasure†seal are embossed for a tactile and elegant finish.
- Die cutting is performed to shape the box, with the base processed separately using a combination of four-color offset printing, film application, and die cutting. Finally, manual labeling completes the production process.
This meticulous production process demonstrates a comprehensive approach that blends creativity, material selection, and printing techniques. It requires designers to have a deep understanding of both offset and screen printing to produce packaging that stands out in terms of visual appeal and craftsmanship.

Most traditional shopping bags are disposable plastic bags made of polyethylene. They are low-cost, lightweight and waterproof, but they have serious environmental problems. This type of plastic bag is difficult to degrade. If discarded at will, it will cause "white pollution", affecting soil aeration and plant growth, and also pose a threat to Marine ecosystems. Many countries have passed legislation to restrict or ban the use of disposable plastic bags, promoting the popularization of eco-friendly shopping bags.
At present, the mainstream eco-friendly shopping bags are made of various materials, each with its own advantages. Cotton shopping bags are breathable, durable, can be washed repeatedly, have strong load-bearing capacity and are suitable for long-term use. Non-woven fabric shopping bags are made of polypropylene as raw material. Their production process has low energy consumption and they can be naturally degraded after being discarded, combining economy and environmental protection. Kraft paper shopping bags are made of natural plant fibers, can be recycled and reused, have a simple and beautiful texture, and are often used in boutiques or gift packaging. There are also degradable plastic bags made from renewable resources such as corn starch, which can quickly decompose into harmless substances in the natural environment.
Modern shopping bags also pay more attention to practicality and aesthetics in design. Besides the basic hand-carry style, there are also multi-functional designs such as foldable, drawn-in, and compartment-equipped ones, which are convenient for storing and sorting items. Many merchants print their brand logos and creative patterns on shopping bags, making them both promotional and mobile advertising carriers.
Using eco-friendly shopping bags is not only a concrete action to practice a green lifestyle, but also a manifestation of social civilization and progress. Choosing reusable shopping bags to reduce the consumption of disposable products has become a global consensus, helping to build a sustainable consumption pattern.
