Recently, the unveiling of the Peugeot Fractal concept car has caught the attention of automotive enthusiasts around the world. This is a sleek, all-electric roadster that not only represents the future of electric mobility but also showcases groundbreaking interior design. What truly stands out is its innovative use of the Peugeot i-Cockpit concept, featuring a high-tech, driver-focused layout combined with an abundance of 3D-printed components. In collaboration with StelLab, Peugeot’s research division, and Focal, a French electroacoustic brand, the Fractal features a unique sound system with 13 speakers and a tactile bass system embedded in each seat back. This setup creates a dynamic and immersive acoustic experience, making the cabin feel more alive and engaging. The integration of such advanced audio technology is a testament to the car's futuristic approach.
The interior of the Fractal is a marvel of modern engineering, with 80% of the surface area made up of 3D-printed parts. The design team used generative algorithms to create sound-absorbing materials that not only reduce noise but also enhance the acoustics by reflecting sound waves across different surfaces. Such intricate details would be nearly impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing methods, proving that 3D printing is essential for this level of innovation.
With an interior space exceeding 15 square meters, the Fractal offers a spacious and luxurious feel. The development team carefully balanced materials and design to optimize both aesthetics and functionality. From the curved surfaces to the custom-fit components, every element was designed with precision and purpose.
As a fully electric vehicle, the Fractal is powered by two 40 kWh lithium-ion batteries, driving a pair of 168 bhp motors—one on each axle. This results in a total peak power output of 335 bhp, with a curb weight of just 1,000 kg. It can travel up to 280 miles (approximately 451 km) on a single charge. While its acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes about 6.8 seconds, it’s perfectly suited for urban environments, where performance isn’t always the top priority.
Peugeot plans to unveil the Fractal at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, which opened in mid-September, offering the public a glimpse into the brand’s exciting future. With its cutting-edge design and sustainable technology, the Fractal is more than just a concept—it's a statement about where the automotive industry is heading.
