The fiber saturation point of wood varies with tree species and temperature. For a variety of woods, when the air temperature is 20 °C and the humidity is 100 %. The water content of the fiber saturation point W averages 30 % and the variation ranges from 23 to 33 %. The fiber saturation point becomes smaller as the temperature increases. Table 3-3 shows the change in fiber saturation point in the air saturated with water vapor. As can be seen from Table 3-3 , as the temperature increases, the ability of wood to absorb moisture from saturated air will decrease. The concept of fiber saturation point in wood is often used in drying processes and should be remembered. When the moisture content of the wood is above the fiber saturation ( W fiber > 30 %), the wood does not shrink; when the moisture content of the wood is below the fiber saturation point ( W fiber < 30 %), the shrinkage tendency of the wood changes linearly. i.e., decreases from 30% water content, is reduced by 1%, while the value of the corresponding coefficient of shrinkage is constant, just as the species and strings, radially varies slightly different. In addition, the fiber's fullness and point of wood are related to its electrical conductivity. All dry wood is a good insulator. Wet wood is a semiconductor. When the water content increases from 0 % to 30 %, the specific conductance of wood increases by more than 100,000 times; when the water content increases from 30 % to the maximum, the specific conductance is increased by four times.
