Classic Grandeur, Modern Comfort: Waldorf Astoria Residences New York

Inspired by the timeless elegance of the hotel, renowned international designer Jean-Louis Deniot has crafted residences that seamlessly blend modern comfort with Art Deco splendor. His vision harmonizes the old and the new, the European and the American, the grand and the intimate. Welcome to Waldorf Astoria Residences New York.

Since its founding, the Waldorf Astoria has been nothing short of a city palace. It became a hub where cultural icons, political leaders, musicians, and royalty gathered in its grand spaces, enjoying its opulent suites. The Waldorf Astoria set the benchmark for American hospitality with its legendary service.

The original Waldorf Hotel was constructed in 1893 by William Waldorf Astor at 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue. Just four years later, his cousin and rival John Jacob Astor IV built an even taller hotel next door in a display of friendly competition. Eventually, they reconciled and joined the two structures through a 300-foot marble corridor known as Peacock Alley. Thus, the Waldorf-Astoria was born.

The tale of the Waldorf Astoria mirrors that of New York City—a narrative of ambition, innovation, and achievement. From the residential interior designer Jean-Louis Deniot to the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and hotel interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, the team behind the restoration of the Waldorf Astoria comprises global luminaries in their respective fields.

Each residence captures the essence of the original architecture, achieving a perfect equilibrium between aesthetics and functionality. Windows are designed to echo the building's original style, offering breathtaking views of the New York cityscape.

The kitchens boast custom-designed cabinetry by Deniot, crafted by the prestigious Italian design house Molteni&C, cleverly hiding top-tier German appliances from Gaggenau. The primary bathrooms feature heated floors, rain showers, and custom Italian vanities. Every detail reflects a blend of handcrafted finishes, natural materials, and subtle Art Deco touches, bringing history into these contemporary spaces.

The original Art Deco architecture, with its distinct details and setback terraces, coexists beautifully with contemporary design, creating a harmonious blend of the old and the new, the cosmopolitan and the American, the grand and the intimate.
