Through extensive research and practical experience, we have effectively leveraged the advantages of color management and advanced large-format inkjet printing technology to reproduce ancient paintings. This has enabled us to develop a range of products that meet market demands, continuously improve the quality of our replicas, and deliver high-end works that are well-received by customers. In this article, I would like to share some of my experiences in the reproduction of ancient artworks.

(1) Key Conditions for Successful Reproduction of Ancient Paintings

1. Forming a Special Team for Ancient Painting Reproduction

(1) Selecting technical personnel with expertise in cultural relics and an appreciation for traditional art;

(2) Utilizing existing company equipment, software, and facilities efficiently;

(3) Clearly defining roles, goals, and long-term development strategies.

2. Implementing a Color Management System for Ancient Painting Reproduction

Color plays a crucial role in conveying visual information and preserving the artistic essence of ancient paintings. When using digital technology to reproduce these masterpieces, color management is one of the most critical aspects. The challenge lies in accurately transferring vivid colors onto rice paper or silk while maintaining consistent and stable color reproduction throughout the process.

Key tasks include:

(1) Adjusting the linearization and color parameters of the scanning device;

(2) Calibrating displays and inkjet printers, creating color profiles for different materials, and ensuring seamless software-hardware integration during the entire workflow to guarantee accurate and consistent color transfer, ultimately achieving faithful replication of the original artwork.
