The 10th Asian Outdoors Exhibition celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Nanjing International Expo Center, marking a milestone in the outdoor industry. On the same day, the inaugural COA Outdoor Summit was held in the Jinling Conference Center in Nanjing, bringing together a wide range of industry leaders, marketing professionals, sports experts, tourism representatives, event planners, media outlets, and brands from around the world. The summit provided a platform for sharing insights on industry trends, future prospects, and key developments shaping the outdoor sector.
At 10 a.m., the first forum of the COA Outdoor Summit kicked off with a keynote speech by Mr. Sheng Faqiang, Chairman of the China Outdoor Brand Alliance (COA). The event featured discussions on various critical topics, including the development of China’s ski market, the role of material brands in driving growth, the future of Chinese outdoor brands, investment opportunities in the sports industry, and whether travel could become a new growth driver for the outdoor sector.
One of the highlights was the panel on the "Prospect of the Chinese Ski Market" under the backdrop of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Huang Cheng, Chairman and General Manager of Border City Sports, emphasized that skiing is not just a sport but a lifestyle, and he expressed optimism about the industry's bright future.
Moderated by Cai Yingyuan from Sina Outdoor, the session featured industry leaders such as Huang Wei from Nanjing Biancheng Sporting Goods, Wu Bin from Beijing Wanda Cultural Industry Group, and Wu Bin from Songhua Lake Resort. The discussion focused on how material brands contribute to the growth of the outdoor market.
In the afternoon, the summit continued with another engaging session. Mr. Sheng Faqiang, along with KAILAS Brand General Manager Zhong Chengzhan, SI Kaile Founder Zeng Hua, and LeTV Sports’ Senior Vice President Qiang Wei, explored the future of China’s outdoor brands. The conversation revolved around three key themes: optimism, differentiation, and the integration of the internet. The session sparked a lively debate among participants about the next decade of China’s outdoor industry and the opportunities it presents.
Experts like Bao Mingxiao from the State Sports General Administration discussed the investment potential in the sports industry following the release of the No.46 Document of the State Council. Cai Yingyuan highlighted the idea that "outdoors are actually playing," while He Yihong from Outdoor Adventures explained the concept of "outdoor-themed travel." Other speakers, including Ma Wei from Caesars Tourism and Kong Weihong from Merchant Commerce, debated whether travel could serve as a new growth point for the outdoor industry.
The day was filled with energy and insightful discussions, leaving attendees energized and inspired. The event was live-streamed by LeTV Sports, allowing a wider audience to participate.
